The Benefits of Omega-3

Omega-3 fatty acids are crucial for the body to function. In addition to assisting in integrity and permeability of cell membranes throughout the body, Omega-3 benefits the body in a number of ways, including supporting a healthy heart. One of the main functions of Omega-3s is controlling blood clotting, which may reduce the risk of heart disease.

The following are just some of the great Omega-3 benefits:

  • Supports healthy triglyceride levels
  • May reduce the risk of heart disease*
  • Supports eye health and vision
  • Supports healthy arteries
  • Important for cognitive (or brain) health
  • Supports healthy mood
  • May support bone health
  • Is important for healthy skin
  • Supports healthy joints

The body does not produce its own Omega-3 fatty acids. A diet high in Omega-3s, which includes eating fish, walnuts, spinach and vegetable oils, may help you achieve some of the aforementioned Omega-3 benefits. Increasingly, researchers are finding connections between Omega-3s and potential benefits for cardiovascular health.
